Published works.
Over the years, I have written for a variety of different magazines, newspapers and branded magazines. I focus on the reverberation of digital technologies and its impact of society. Below is a selection of the most relevant pieces.
Wired.
My articles for Wired Italy investigate the societal reflections of digital technologies, with a focus on artificial intelligence, media platforms and online privacy. My work for the Italian edition of the tech magazine features various analysis on online disinformation, an interview with Wikipedia’s Founder Jimmy Wales, the latest research about model collapse, the impact of TikTok’s algorithms on young adults’ mental health and an in-depth analysis of online privacy and cybersecurity in the Italian web sphere.
Esquire.
A long-form article on the effect of online porn addiction on users’ brains and well-being for Esquire Italy.
Domani.
I report on tech issues, in particular research-based evidences of the impact of algorithms on the social sphere. Amongst the most recent pieces published were a report from India before the elections, a piece on online disinformation in Europe research on Amazon’s echo chambers and an article on how Large Language Models connected to the internet can influence elections.
La Repubblica.
One of my articles I wrote for Le Macchine Volanti, Telecom’s branded magazine managed by the digital enabler Alkemy, was featured on the national Italian newspaper La Repubblica. It focused on the challenges and issues of providing internet connectivity to the entire world.
Ultimo Uomo.
I contributed to the early stages of Ultimo Uomo (formerly part of Sky Sports Italy), the leading Italian sport webzines with long form interviews, data stories and reportage on football & other sports. In particular, I have explored the role of technology in innovating the beautiful game.
Il Tascabile.
After my copywriting work with Cristina Dondi on her project for the University of Oxford Printing Revolution, I wrote a long form for Il Tascabile, the digital magazine of Treccani, the most prestigious Italian encyclopedia. The piece explored the work by her team at the University of Oxford, which was tracking European culture through the digitalisation of the first books printed in the XV century and their circulation around the continent.
Che Fare.
During the COVID-19 pandemic misinformation was spreading as fast as the virus. Building upon the work of a group of researchers led by professor Fabio Giglietto and conducted on a data set provided by Facebook, it was possible to map media manipulation in the Italian web sphere.
Tactical Tech.
Research, writing and reporting on Trackography, a research project exploring how news media websites track their users – part of My Shadow, a wider research project by the Berlin-based NGO Tactical Tech.
Global Voices.
A reportage from inside of the Amsterdam University occupation in 2015 with the Italian photo reporter Nicola Zolin.
The Towner.
When I lived in Amsterdam, I contributed to a couple of articles from the Dutch capital for The Towner, an online branded magazine about travel and lifestyle published in Italian and English by Moleskine. I explored the future of the city imaging how it would be to live there in 2026, and followed the quest for freedom of a collective of artists travelling the world on the Ship of Fools.
Le Macchine Volanti.
Over the years, I created content for Telecom, the biggest Italian telecommunication company part of TIM Group. I started on the content section of the corporate website and then wrote articles for their digital culture magazine Le Macchine Volanti.
Fanpage.
I researched and written the history of the use of nitrous oxide in the UK through a journey started in the houses of the English nobility of the XVIII century and ended in the 2020s rave scene in London.
Books.
In the last few years I was asked to contribute to two anthologies on the topics I have written about.
Datacrazia.
Published in 2018, this anthology features essays, interviews and long forms on algorithmic culture, politics and conflicts in the era of Big Data. I contributed with an interview on the definition of Artificial Intelligence with Nello Cristianini – researcher and professor named amongst the world’s leading scientific minds by Thomson Reuters.
Uno-Due.
Identity was the second issue of Uno-Due, a yearly publication about football and its reverberations on society & culture. Together Antonio Gagliardi – friend, Uefa Pro manager and tactical analyst – I wrote a reportage on the identity of Total Football. This long from features data, timelines, historical analysis, cultural insights and interviews with David Winner – author of the book Brilliant Orange – and David Endt – former Ajax team manager and journalist.
